'Friday the 13th': Jason Vorhees television series in the works

Horror films have been around for decades, and Hollywood is making a fortune to remake them and bring the characters to a new audience. On April 24 Deadline broke the news that the popular slasher film "Friday the 13th" is being turned into a television drama that will focus on the life of the killer Jason Vorhees. The story follows Vorhees as he wears a hockey mask and kills teenagers with a machete at Camp Crystal Lake.

The one hour long series will show Vorhees in a variety of different time periods and will follow the characters from the original film. Joss Whedon talks villains and filming 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'

Superhero movies have been the most successful films at the box office for the last decade, and now the most anticipated superhero sequel is about to begin filming. On April 24 Comingsoon.net posted an interview with Joss Whedon and Kevin Feige about "Avengers: Age of Ultron," including filming locations and the new villain. The film will introduce new characters to the Marvel cinematic universe and setup the third film in the franchise.
The sequel is currently filming in London, where many of the cast have been completing pre-production. At least one scene set in the 1940s has already been completed, so Captain America (Chris Evans) has a part in the upcoming sequel, which will be affected by the events in "Captain America 3: The Winter Soldier." Additional filming locations include South Africa and Italy's Fort Bard. Whedon, who will return to direct the sequel, recently released a video apologizing to the citizens of Seoul, South Korea for shooting a disaster scene.
The villain in the sequel will be the robotic Ultron, played by actor James Spader. Whedon calls the character "genuinely disturbed" and while he is the main threat in the film he is not the only threat. Hydra's Baron Wolfgang von Strucker (Thomas Kretschmann) will make an appearance and he will be joined by his new companions Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). The pair are twins with the power of telekinesis and superhuman speed.
MTV revealed on April 24 that Loki (Tom Hiddleston) will not make an appearance in the sequel. The new film will take place on a larger global scale, putting the characters in danger and spreading them across the world. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). War Machine (Don Cheadle) was also recently revealed to appear in the sequel.
Whedon has spoken out against just including characters for the sake of inclusion, so every characters has an important role to play. The story will fit into the Marvel cinematic universe as well as be watchable for anyone who hasn't seen the first film or the other Marvel standalone superhero films. The visual style of the film will also be different due to the many different filming locations. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters across the world in May 2015

'The Great Gatsby' Trailer Unveiled

t's finally here! The first trailer from Director Baz Luhrmann's upcoming film The Great Gatsby has been released on iTunes Movie Trailers. The film includes an all-star cast of Leonardo DiCaprioCarey MulliganTobey McGuire, and Joel Edgerton. The drama is set for release on December 25, 2012.
The film tells the story of the classic American novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Set in 1922, the film follows writer Nick Carraway as he trades the Midwest for the vibrant lights of New York City. He is thrust into a world of priviledge, class, and secrets in the middle of a time period where jazz and prohibition ruled the streets.

The trailer opens with an extravagant party of the home of Gatsby, with everyone wondering who he is. Enter Jay Gatsby (DiCaprio), who is painted as a secretive, quiet man. He is introduced to both Nick Carroway (McGuire) and Daisy (Mulligan). What follows is a mesh of colors, flappers, and high society. Filmed in Australia with a budget of $120 million, the trailer definitely reveals an elaborate world of New York City fashion, business, and secrets.
There are many scenes that depict a romantic interaction between Daisy and Gatsby, cut around scenes of car rides, phone calls and of course elaborate parties. There are plenty of flappers, alcohol, and long glances between characters in this trailer, which seems to focus on the relationship of Daisy and Gatsby more than the experience of Carraway.

The Maine Releases New Album 'Pioneer'

The Maine, an alternative rock band from Tempe, Arizona has just released their third studio album PioneerThe band consists of John O’Callaghan on vocals, Kennedy Brock on rhythm guitar and vocals, Garrett Nickelsen on bass, Pat Kirch on drums, and Jared Monaco on lead guitar. The record was released December 6, 2011 on Action Theory Records. Their previous albums include Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop in summer 2008 and Black & White in 2010.
The first single from the new album, ‘Don’t Give Up On Us’ was released through iTunes on November 1, the saem day as the album was available for pre-order. The band is currently touring the world in support of the album with Taking Back Sunday and Bad Rabbits. The Maine also created a video documentary of the making of Pioneer on their website. Pioneer was recorded at Sonic Ranch in El Paso, Texas. The next single, ‘Some Days’ was released on November 15.
‘Identify’ is the opening song of the album, with slow guitars and relaxed vocal chorus that showcases Callaghan’s raspy singing voice. The next song is ‘My Heroine’, which experiments with more intense guitar riffs. The steady drum beat meshes well with the guitars making the song an underdog rock anthem. ‘Time’ is a little more upbeat than the song before, but it focuses more on the lyrics. The next song, ‘Some Day’s has the most unique guitar riff so far, making it a recognizable song on the album instantly and a fan favorite.
The song with a drum intro is found on ‘I’m Sorry’ a slow ballad about owning up to your actions. The song focuses on a powerful lyrics and occasional light guitars. ‘Misery’ slows down the pace of the album, with almost no guitars or bass, to showcase the lyrics and the slow, soft melody. ‘When I’m at Home’ follows the same formula and ‘Thinking of You’ introduces a piano melody which transitions the guitars steadily back into the album. The most sincere track on the album is probably ‘Jenny’, a tribute to Callaghan’s mother with the same name.
The album finishes with ‘Like We Did (Windows Down)’, ‘While Listening to Rock & Roll’ and ‘Waiting for My Sun to Shine’ which is a hidden track. On the day of its release,Pioneer was the number 2 song on the iTunes alternative rock albums list.
