Set for release on September 14 by Summit Entertainment,The Perks of Being a Wallflower has released a new poster and announced that a new trailer will premiere during the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. The film is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Stephen Chbosky, who also wrote the screenplay and directed the film.
The quirky, coming-of-age story focuses on several teens navigating the uncharted waters of growing up. High school freshman Charlie befriends two high school seniors who help him experience life in different ways and they all learn new things about themselves in the process. The poster shows the three main characters leaning against a green wall, which is a homage to the cover of the novel.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower stars Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Johnny Simmons, Nina Dobrev,Dylan McDermott and Mae Whitman. The PG-13 rated film will open in theaters on September 14, 2012. Be sure to check out the 2012 MTV Movie Awards to see the official release of the theatrical trailer.
